About the Scania-DB9 (16-pin) adapter cable
The Scania-DB9 (16-pin) adapter can be used in many Scania heavy duty trucks. The cable is compatible with our CANedge CAN loggers and CANsub CAN interfaces - letting you connect either directly to the CAN bus. Simply locate the 16-pin connector in your vehicle, typically found in the cabin (e.g. behind a panel).
Need to use this with a CANsub.4/CANmod.router? See our DB25-4xDB9 adapter cable.

Below are use cases examples where the Scania-DB9 (16-pin) adapter is useful:
Heavy-duty fleet telematics
Need to log J1939 data from a fleet that includes Scania vehicles?
In mixed heavy-duty vehicle fleets, some Scania models may be fitted with the 16-pin Scania connector. In such cases, the simplest way to record J1939 data with your CAN logger is to connect it directly to the CAN bus via this adapter cable. This way, you automatically start logging all broadcasted raw J1939 data from the vehicle - allowing you to easily get started with J1939 data logging and telematics.
Real-time J1939 diagnostics via CANsub
Need to stream J1939 data live from Scania trucks for in-field diagnostics?
Connect the Scania-DB9 (16-pin) adapter cable to a CANsub.2/CANsub.4 via USB or Ethernet. Field technicians can then open webCAN in their browser - with zero installation - to stream raw J1939 data live from the Scania CAN bus. With the J1939 DBC loaded, webCAN DBC decodes the frames on the fly into named signals (incl. automatic J1939 TP reassembly for multi-packet messages like DM1) - ideal for rapid in-field troubleshooting and diagnostics on Scania heavy-duty trucks.
