What problem did you solve?

We're developing chainless e-bike kits. Our pedaling system is not yet able to record all the data from the CAN bus of the e-bike. As we're still in the development phase, this made it hard for us to identify bug causes via our existing hardware (primarily PCAN-USB tools and software).

How did you solve it?

The CANedge helps us a lot in resolving this! When a bug occurs, we can now quickly and easily identify the source by analysing every log file and CAN bus trace from the SD card. We are using the CANedge MF4 to TRC converter (mdf2trc), and then subsequently home-made tools, PCAN-Explorer and MATLAB/Simulink for further analysis. Not only for problems - it is also helping us for our development and control. We use PCAN Explorer to plot and analyse data. To protect the CANedge against dust/humidty we use the CANedge IP67 enclosure kit.

What benefit has this led to?

Efficiency, quick analysis and data recording. Easy logging and also the use of the GPS data. Large data capacity. All rides are recorded, giving us complete visibility into our system behavior.

Why did you choose the CANedge?
