What problem did you solve?
In the past, we had to log development data from our electric scooter using a laptop. This meant that testing/analysing the data was difficult and took a lot of time. We also were not able to see the live data.
How did you solve it?
We deployed the CANedge2 (incl. GPS/IMU) to collect data from our scooter. Specifically, we configured the CANedge2 to split the data every 10 seconds and offload it via WiFi to our own AWS S3 cloud server bucket. Here, we deployed the Grafana-Athena integration, which ensures that the uploaded log files are immediately processed by a Lambda function, updating our Parquet data lake immediately. In turn, this allows us to set up our Grafana dashboard with an automatic 10 second refresh rate. The dashboard can be accessed across our team to enable both near real-time analysis, as well as historical analysis.

What benefit has this led to?
Because of the CANedge we are now able to reduce the data processing and analysis time significantly - and we are able to visualize near real-time data by using the Grafana-Athena dashboard integration and WiFi/S3 functionality of the device.
